Sixteen aisles of the Whalebuy Spreadsheet, each with a packing note

Pick an aisle, open a card, copy the store link. Every aisle also names the weight, battery or liquid issue that tends to catch people out with that kind of item.

How the aisles are laid out

Sixteen aisles cover what most Whalebuy orders contain, from sneakers to small electronics. Each aisle below has two example pictures, a note on the one thing that most often goes wrong with that kind of item, the main category link and four narrower searches. The narrower searches exist because a category page can hold thousands of listings; typing "canvas sneakers" gets you to a shortlist faster than scrolling "Sneakers".

How to use any card you open: copy the store link from the product page, paste it into the search box on whalebuy.com, and pick the option there. The photos on product cards are the store's own images, not warehouse photos, so treat them as the listing, not as proof of what will arrive.

Sneakers, and the shoebox decision

Shoes are where volumetric weight bites first. A rigid box can double the space a pair takes, so Whalebuy lists "Remove the shoebox" and "Shoebox folded" among its free packing options, plus free shoe trees to stop the toe box creasing in transit. Keep the box only if you plan to resell or gift the pair. In the photos, check the size label on the tongue against the size you picked, and look at both shoes, not just the one facing the camera.

Jackets and coats: the weight sits here

A down jacket can weigh close to a kilo before packing, and on the US snapshot the cheapest line charged $36.01 for 1 kg against $22.55 for half that. Ask for a vacuum bag on puffers; it is a paid option of a few yuan and squeezes the air out of the fill. Shell jackets pack small and rarely need it. Check zip pulls and snaps in the photos, since those are the parts sellers swap between batches.

Hoodies: read the chest figure as a flat width

Most store size charts for hoodies give the chest as a flat measurement across the front, not the full circumference, so double it before comparing with a hoodie you own. Heavy fleece runs 600 g or more per piece, and two hoodies in one parcel are often what pushes it over a weight step. Ask for detailed photos of the print edge if the graphic is the reason you are buying; three ordinary photos rarely show it up close.

White and black T-shirts with small prints laid flatGrid of white and cream T-shirts with chest graphics

T-shirts: the filler that is rarely wasted

A T-shirt weighs around 200 g, which makes it the item buyers add when a parcel sits just under a weight step. Look for the fabric weight in the listing (often written as grams per square meter) and the shoulder width in the size chart; boxy cuts on Chinese stores tend to run short in the body. Printed shirts can arrive folded with the print still tacky, so ask the warehouse for a photo of the print if it matters to you.

Faded blue jeans hung side by side on a railBlue, black and brown jeans with straight legs on a wall

Jeans: waist units and the rise

Denim listings switch between inch sizes (28 to 34) and centimeter waist measurements, sometimes on the same page. Measure a pair you like flat across the waistband and compare. Rise and leg opening matter more than the label size for how the pair sits. A pair of jeans often weighs 600 to 800 g, so two pairs alone take most of a 2 kg parcel; on the US snapshot 2 kg cost $62.93 on the cheapest line.

Flared sweatpants in a spread of bright colorsSweatpants in many colors laid out in a grid

Sweatpants: fleece takes space, not weight

Fleece sweatpants are light for their bulk, which is exactly the case where volumetric weight beats the scale. Vacuum bags help here more than on any other aisle. Check the inseam in the size chart and whether the cuff is elastic or open; photos taken flat do not show either well. If the listing offers a matching hoodie, the two usually come from the same fabric lot, which keeps the color closer than buying them apart.

Slip dresses in neutral and dark colorsFitted white zip jacket worn by a model

Womenswear: go by the measurements

Letter sizes on Chinese stores run small for most Western buyers, often by one or two sizes. Use the bust, waist and hip figures in the chart, and note whether a stretch fabric is listed. Some stores give a weight band per size in jin, where one jin is 500 g. Fitted dresses and yoga jackets show their fit only on a model, so look at the model photos as well as the flat ones the warehouse will take.

Teal and burgundy jerseys with large numbersBasketball jerseys in purple, yellow and white

Jerseys: printing is its own option

Football and basketball jersey listings usually sell the shirt and the name and number as separate choices, and the printed version can take longer to dispatch. Check the option name carefully: "fan" and "player" cuts differ in fit and fabric. Patches and sponsor logos vary between versions of the same listing, so compare the warehouse photos with the main listing image before you approve the item.

Bags: structure costs space

A structured bag keeps its shape inside the parcel, which is good for the bag and bad for volumetric weight. Soft totes and backpacks fold flat. Ask for the dust bag and the stuffing paper to be kept or removed depending on how you will use it. In the photos, check stitching at the handle joints and the corners, where cheaper versions fail first. Leather goods can be sensitive at some borders, so read your country notes before ordering several.

Baseball caps in cream, pink, green and black with script embroideryRibbed beanies in a range of colors

Hats: protect the crown

Caps weigh very little, so they are an easy add to a parcel, but a structured crown can be crushed in a soft bag. If the cap has a stiff front, ask for carton packaging, which is free on Whalebuy, or ship it with something boxed. Beanies are the opposite: fold them into any gap. Check the strap type (snapback, buckle or fitted) in the option name; fitted caps use head sizes in centimeters.

Belts: length is not your waist size

Belt length options on Chinese stores usually measure from the buckle to the middle hole, and some list the full strap length instead. Pick a length about 10 cm longer than your waist measurement and confirm with the seller note. Heavy metal buckles add weight but not volume. In the photos, check the edge paint along the strap and the back of the buckle, which the main listing image rarely shows.

Square sunglasses in black and tortoiseshell in a rowGrid of sunglasses with dark lenses on cases

Eyewear: fragile and small

Sunglasses are light but breakable, and Whalebuy guarantees fragile items only up to the moment they leave the warehouse. Keep the hard case and add bubble film, which is one of the paid packing options. Check that both lenses carry the same tint in the photos and that the arms fold evenly. Prescription work is outside what a shopping agent can verify, so treat frames as frames.

Perfume: ask before you buy

Whalebuy's pre-purchase notes put liquids, creams, powders and cosmetics on the limited list and ask buyers to contact customer support before purchasing them. Fewer lines accept a parcel with a bottle in it, and the line that does may cost more than the cheapest one on the estimator. If you go ahead, keep perfume in a parcel of its own so that a refused bottle does not hold up your clothes.

Jewelry: small parcel, careful declaration

Jewelry ships light, but gold and silver jewelry and diamonds appear on Whalebuy's list of goods that some customs offices treat more strictly. Fashion pieces in plated metal are the usual buy. Ask for a close photo of the clasp and of any stone setting, and keep small items in a bag inside the parcel so they do not slip out of a carton corner. Ring sizes on Chinese stores use the inner diameter or a numbered scale.

Watches: the battery question

Anything with a battery, from a quartz movement to a smartwatch, cuts the number of lines that will carry the parcel. Whalebuy also says its staff do not inspect the inner quality, model or parts of electronic and digital goods, so the photos will show the face and strap, not whether it keeps time. Ask the seller for a video of the watch running if the listing offers one.

White wireless earbuds and charging cases labeled by generationOver-ear headphones in pastel colors with boxes

Electronics: what the warehouse will not test

Power banks and phones with batteries are on Whalebuy's sensitive list, and electrical items are outside the scope of the free inspection beyond their outside condition. Buy from stores that show a clear model number and a test video. Chinese plugs and voltage labels matter: check the rating plate in the listing photos. Keep electronics apart from liquids, and expect the cheapest line to refuse some of them.

From an aisle card to a Whalebuy order

A card on any aisle is the start, not the order. What happens next is the same for every aisle: the store link goes into Whalebuy, you pay for the item, the warehouse photographs it, and you decide what travels together. Two habits save the most money across all sixteen aisles. First, put heavy, bulky items (jackets, jeans, boxed shoes) in a parcel with light fillers (T-shirts, caps, belts) so the weight steps are used fully. Second, keep anything with a battery, a liquid or a magnet in its own parcel, because one restricted item can rule out the cheapest line for everything packed with it.

The product data behind the aisles comes from a catalog that is refreshed separately from this guide, so a card can outlive its listing. If a store page has gone, search the product name in a narrower aisle search above; sellers often relist the same item under a new number.
